Monsters Of Content Marketing
No digital fair is on our level
This is what our 20th podcast episode "Monsters of Content Marketing" is about
The cologne DMEXCO is an international top event for digital marketing. The fair is a required course for marketeers. As important as lectures and panels is networking, which often goes into the morning hours. This won't happen this year – at least not in the traditional way. The organisers planned recently still with a physical fair, but now it is called on 23. and 24. September purely digitally "DMEXCO @home".
Milko Malev is head of communications and marketing at the cologne industry summit. He is curious to see what is in store for him, as he says in the new edition of "Monsters of Content Marketing". After all digital DMEXCO is a new territory. It will be as exhausting like a two-day event of the recent years, Malev believes. Since some of the guests are on conference stages in Cologne, but there is no audience. Instead of that, they sit in front of computers and smartphones all over the world.
Malev and his colleagues have put together more than 100 hours of program and around 500 speakers. The technical rehearsals went very well.
“
I am already preparing myself for the stress situation that may come our way.
He doesn't know of any digital trade fair "that can operate on this level," says the chief communicator. There will be digital showrooms, one-on-one discussions are possible under the umbrella of "DMEXCO @home" as well as large meetings with up to 100 participants, including press conferences. After all all this is has to be part of an event like this, which Malev includes in line with CES in Las Vegas or the Web Summit in Lissabon.
The DMEXCO organizers had already chosen "Attitude counts" as their motto before the emergence of #BlackLivesMatter in the USA. But the wave of protest gives the trend topic additional relevance. Until early summer the organisers had hoped to be able to offer a trade show with "real" guests, but Corona did not allow this to happen. Anyway Malev believes that the pandemic will significantly change the event business in the industry.
„Drinking Rosé at the Croisette for a 3000 ticket versus online webinar for 150 Euro. There will certainly be a different attitude after corona.“
What the new monster has to say about the eternal comparison with the OMR, how it turns the trade fair into a medium and why DMEXCO is the "KaDeWe of the digital economy": You can find out all this and more in the new issue #MoCM. Please note that the podcast is in German.
